Les Tours HOLCIM de La ROCHELLE – île de Ré

Monsieur Le Maire,

Le cadeau que vous nous avez promis en signant le 18 février 2010 un permis de construire pour une cimenterie sur le Grand Port Maritime de La Rochelle est sur le point de nous être livré en cette période de fêtes.

Vous pourrez l’admirer sur la photographie jointe. Ce bâtiment massif qui fait face à l’île de Ré, investissement de 80 millions d’euros, est l’une des réalisations marquantes de votre engagement politique à La ROCHELLE – île de Ré pendant 30 années.

L’industriel dispose des autorisations pour produire près de 10% du ciment français, au prix du déversement de multiples substances toxiques par la cheminée culminant à 71 mètres, de nuisances importantes (bruit des turbines jour et nuit, trafic de camions qui pourrait atteindre 300 rotations par jour sur la rocade saturée,…), de la stagnation de micro et nano particules dans le système des pertuis fonctionnant en vase clos au risque d’altérer la biodiversité. Il aggrave la pression devenue intolérable exercée par les multiples implantations industrialo-portuaires sur les populations modestes du quartier de La Pallice.

Ce projet sera une contribution significative au chômage de masse en condamnant les unités traditionnelles de production au profit d’une délocalisation déguisée, la matière première étant extraite dans des pays étrangers sans aucune garantie de provenance et in fine est un centre de profit financier au risque de la perte d’un savoir faire industriel français. Les ouvriers perdront leur travail et leur légitime fierté. C’est un modèle du malheur qui mine notre pays et l’expose au pire qui est à craindre.

Ce projet comporte un risque de destruction de nos ressources naturelles localisées en ces lieux magnifiques des 3 îles (Ré, Oléron, Aix) : ostréiculture, conchyculture, pêche, nautisme, tourisme, croisières. Il pose la question de la contradiction entre activités industrielles portuaires et site préservé, de l’irrespect de la Nature.

Les faits les plus injustes et les plus cyniques ont toujours une explication. Nous la connaissons.

Nous ne défendons pas « les privilégiés de l’île de Ré » mais nos valeurs qui fondent le vivre ensemble.
